Giving is an amazing act when done...

I don't remember ever writing anything about a person who passed away. Yesterday morning I received a phone call about a man who passed away in his 50s and I feel the need to say a few words about him.

How easy it is in words to say that giving is an amazing act when it is done selflessly and without expecting anything in return. And the absolute example is always blood donation, where the donor does not know, and never learns, to whom the blood he gives has ended up and therefore cannot expect anything in return. A man I have met in person only once in my life, and that was a few months ago, helped me catalyze one of the most challenging issues of my adult life, without ever even having seen me. At the same time, he helped a close relative of mine in an equally very serious personal matter, without having a professional, romantic, or even friendly relationship with us. I used to wonder why he does this and, like most people, I made various scenarios in my mind... When finally all our matters were finished and he settled for a thank you that we gave him from the bottom of our hearts, then I realized that some people can really give selflessly without expecting anything in return.

Upon hearing the news of his death I very quickly went through the stage of anger and injustice (why should such a good man leave at such a young age) and then I had a beautiful thought.
