The sermon

During the days of Easter, various thoughts come to my mind. I rarely go to church and that only in circumstances of need, at a wedding, baptism, funeral or memorial service. I found myself a few days ago, on a Sunday morning, at a memorial service which would take place immediately after the morning service. As it happens, according to my minimal personal experience, when the priest sees a lot of people as a flock, he also gives a sermon after the end of the service.

This sermon after sermon could be an ode to the love, solidarity and cooperation that are so lacking in the strange times we are going through in Greece and worldwide. Instead the holy step was used to tell stories of fear from the New Testament and how man is a sinner and must suffer and many more that I chose not to even remember.

The continuation of the sermon had to do with modern society and how money is bad and corrupts and a series of limiting beliefs either social or psychological which to my ears was a continuation of a daily news report that sows fear and insecurity in anyone watching.

In another age, when the world was full of slave-markets, political murders, crucifixions of innocent people, mutilations of infants, and barbarous rampages of revelry and revelry in blood-stained arenas, a wise and good man wrote to a small group in Philippi: "and now my friends , with all that is true, with all that is kind, with all that is just and pure, with all that is an act of love and grace, with all that is excellent and admirable – fill your thoughts and your reflections.” (Apostle Paul: Letter to the Philippians: 4: 8)

Each of us chooses daily what to fill our thoughts and reflections with. Do not allow external events to spoil your good mood, your good intention or make you deviate from your goal, as there is a chance that "challenges" will appear in your path.

Remember that there are no good or bad events, but you are the one who decides how you will react to them. Everything is neutral. There are no obstacles. There is nothing that can stop your progress, your evolution, your life! Even if something seems like an obstacle, disprove it, facing it in its true dimension. As a way through which you can choose who you really are and where you want to be. And as you will declare that nothing stops you from your decision, you will see the obstacles disappear and the appropriate solutions will appear. And you, more confident than ever, will take steps in the desired direction.

It is truly unimaginable what churches (of all faiths of course) could do with spreading love, practicing forgiveness and forgiveness, promoting self-discipline, educating the mind and revealing the truth. For various reasons this does not happen in any part of the Earth, in any religion, at least not massively and to a satisfactory extent.

I deeply believe that there are a number of citizens in this country who are truly progressive. They understand that there are no differences between peoples and races that highlight some superior and some inferior to others. It is clear to them that the Earth is the common home of all life forms that inhabit it and must be respected. Let's make sure we don't pollute it, clean it like our house and take care of it so that it takes care of us too. And yet there are people in this country who have managed to find the strength to change themselves and now seek to change the world. These people need to emerge, to take responsibility first towards themselves and then towards society.

Honoring this unique place, let us wish the Holy Light of the Resurrection to illuminate the souls and lives of all of us!
